Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a true Croatian wonder, one of the most important cities in the entire Mediterranean and a location known all over the world for its remarkable beauty. Founded back in 7th century (as most theories claim), it has since then become a city of prosperity, science and culture. The most significant part of its history was the Republic of Dubrovnik, a city-state founded in 13th century. It was an entity which, due to skillfull diplomacy and important negotiations, managed to maintain its independence while being surrounded by major empires (Ottoman and Venetian). The people of Dubrovnik mastered seamanship and trade which then allowed a glorious development of sceince and culture. The city was beautifully built as well, thus making it one of the prettiest Mediterranean towns in general. The republic had embassies all over the then known world, one of the first pharmacies in this part of Europe and its scientists created some of the most significant achievements of the time. The Republic was ended in 1806 by Napoleon. The most tragic period was Croatian Homeland War when the city was heavily bombarded with many casualties. After the war, the city was renovated and has since then become a major tourist hub with many people visiting it every year. Its beauty and significance is the reason why people keep coming back. When it comes to buying a property in Dubrovnik, bear in mind that the prices are somewhat higher than on the rest of the coast. Properties in the very center are quite costly, but are a perfect investment due to high demand for this town. It is also possible to buy a plot and then create a dream house. It is also possible to buy a house in some of the nearby locations which will then give you the necessary peace, outside of the usual fuss, yet so close to this extraordinary place.
