Ugljan

Ugljan is the closest island of the Zadar archipelago, right across Zadar, from which it is only a few NM wide Zadar canals and is connected by numerous ferry lines. They call it a green island, covered with dense maki, pines, olives, figs, grape vines and various other Mediterranean plants. Its surface is 51.85 km2, while the coast line is 74 km long.
The island has been related to the sea, maritime and fishing for generations and 2000 years of olive groves left hundreds of thousands of olive trees with exceptional tradition of making quality olive. The whole northeastern side of the island has the natural coves as the fishermen and tourist spots, most popular of which are Kukljica, Kali, Preko and Ugljan. The other side of the island is mostly steep and uninhabited and with its bays, islands and rich underwater is a real challenge for divers and sport fishermen. The sleek but well-groomed interior of the island is paved with numerous trails suitable for walks and cycling tours …
